Donna Kulig, MSN, FNP-BC

Donna Kulig is a family nurse practitioner and the Founder of Living Well Family Care. Her passion for delivering thoughtful, relationship-centered primary care is rooted in both personal experience and nearly two decades of nursing practice.

Her commitment to the art of listening began early in her career. She often reflects on the timeless wisdom of 19th-century physician William Osler, who famously said, “Listen to your patient; he is telling you the diagnosis.” This simple truth has profoundly shaped Donna’s understanding of what good medicine requires.

Growing up in a family facing significant challenges, Donna witnessed firsthand how missed opportunities in primary care can deeply impact a person and family’s health. Her mother’s long-undiagnosed brain tumor — treated as psychiatric illness for over 15 years — left a lasting impression and reinforced her belief that attentive listening is essential to accurate diagnosis, compassionate care, and improved outcomes. Further, she learned that a mother’s health directly influences the wellbeing of a child.

Donna became a registered nurse in 2007 and began her career at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA on a postoperative cardiac surgery unit. Her desire to help patients prevent disease and live healthier lives led her to pursue an advanced practice degree in family medicine.

She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Regis College in 2013 and became board certified as a family nurse practitioner. She completed her training and was hired as a new NP at The Marino Center for Integrative Health, a holistic primary care practice known for spending time with patients, seeking root causes, and honoring each person as an individual. This experience solidified her vision for what primary care should be: time-rich, relationship-driven, and grounded in trust.

After several years in clinical practice — and mentoring NP students along the way — she stepped back to focus on raising and nurturing her growing family. Those years, as a stay-at-home and homeschooling mother, deepened her conviction that strong families contribute to strong communities, and that women and children, in particular, benefit from primary care that is personal, attentive, and consistent.

As Donna became more involved in her community, she repeatedly heard from mothers and families who didn’t feel listened to, who felt rushed through appointments, and who longed for a provider who truly knew them. These conversations strengthened her desire to help create a better primary care experience.

In 2020, Donna joined Endicott College as nursing faculty and ultimately transitioned into a full-time educator in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. Teaching and mentoring future clinicians has allowed her to champion the principle she believes is foundational to excellent care: active, empathetic listening — the very art Osler emphasized more than a century ago.

Building on her commitment to lifelong learning and system-level improvement, Donna has since matriculated into the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Endicott College, where she is pursuing scholarly work focused on strengthening primary care delivery.
